PORTRAITS OF ARCHITECTS

ARCHITECTURE IS A FORM OF ART THAT IS INSIDE, BEYOND AND AROUND OTHER ARTS.

THE FACES OF ARCHITECTS THAT I LIKE – BRUCE GOFF, KONSTANTIN MELNIKOV, NICHOLAS GRIMSHAW, ZAHA HADID, TADAO ANDO, HANS SCHAROUN - ARE PHOTOGENIC.

I PAINTED THE PORTRAITS OF THESE ARCHITECTS ON WOODEN DOORS.

THESE DOORS ORIGINATE FROM OUR FAMILY’S SUMMER COTTAGE, WHICH WAS BUILT IN THE 1960s AND DEMOLISHED RECENTLY.

THE WORK IS A COMMEMORATION OF THE HOUSE WHERE I USED TO SPEND ALL MY HAPPY SUMMERS.

THE DESIGN OF THE DOORS IS DIFFERENT – I TRIED TO ADAPT THEIR PECULIAR FORM TO THE CHARACTER OF THE ARCHITECTS.

THE SERIES OF PAINTINGS IS GOING TO BE THE SYMBIOSIS OF ART AND ARCHITECTURE – A FIELD THAT I HAVE DEALT WITH EARLIER AND PLAN TO CONTINUE IN THE FUTURE.
